Mission-Focused
Here is their mission quoted from their website: We create magical tea moments that connect you to what’s important.
Tea Drops was founded by Sashee Chandran in 2015.
Here’s her story:
I started Tea Drops in 2015 because I was looking for an environmentally friendly, convenient, yet high quality tea experience that simply didn’t exist. By making an assortment of bagless, organic, whole leaf teas, Tea Drops sheds 15% less waste than traditional tea bags. Tea Drops has become a favorite among new and experienced tea drinkers alike, and is proud to support a female forward supply chain. We support fair trade, organic harvesting, and all our teas are kosher certified. With every box we sell, we donate a year’s supply of clean water through the Thirst Project.
Thus far, Tea Drops has built 4 water wells and has also donated enough clean water to support over 167,232 individuals and counting through The Thirst Project.
The Thirst Project
A little about the Thirst Project: This organization was founded in 2008 by a 19-year-old college student and 7 of his college friends who felt God tug on their hearts to get involved in a clean water initiative. They started with $70 of their own money and began by simply engaging with people on the street in Los Angeles about the immense need for clean water around the world. After significant interest from schools, they realized that even though there were many organizations focused on clean water, none of them targeted the activation of young people. That’s how The Thirst Project was born. They take great care when telling the stories of those who need clean water and then helping them get clean water. They respect those they are trying to help by establishing relationships with locals who find prospective communities who could benefit from better water sources. They are then paid to do the work themselves. Read more about this amazing initiative at http://thirstproject.org

What is a Tea Drop, anyway?
Drop, Stir, Enjoy! Tea Drops are organic, ground leaf teas and herbs that are pressed into fun shapes. They melt in water — like a bath bomb, except it’s tea! Swirl cup gently while consuming to capture every prebiotic-filled sip or filter out at the end — it’s up to your preference!
Sustainability at Tea Drops
One of the goals of Tea Drops is to be more sustainable and to reduce the use of plastics. According to their website, they are actively working toward a 100% compostable tea pouch that will also keep their tea drops fresh. Here are some of the steps they have taken toward sustainability so far…
Their paperboard cylinders and wood boxes are already fully biodegradable. Here is how using 30% PCR in their pouches helps our planet.
Our goal – working toward a more sustainable product – has been part of our mission since we were founded. Tea Drops are already less waste than a traditional tea bag. Our next step is to further reduce plastics and to improve on what we have already saved. While we realize, we are not 100% there, we are actively in search of a pouch that is fully compostable, but can also protect the quality of the Tea Drop by ensuring freshness and protection in transit. Thanks for your patience with us as we evolve — we appreciate your support!
